Yes, it’s possible to step away from your business without feeling guilty or having a nervous system overload. For that, I have a couple of tips that will make that process easier and avoid unnecessary stress.
From the obvious, such as preparing your holidays weeks (or even months!) in advance, to the not-so-obvious, such as delegating or giving your clients contact information to keep open communication while you’re gone; these tips will help you to successfully step away from your business whenever you need it.

Hello peaceful service providers I'm coming in today with a bite size episode just to remind you some of the ways that you can step away from your business without feeling guilty. These are my hot tips. Let's go. Okay, the first one is you're not going to be able to step away from your business unless you have a plan if you book a last minute holiday that's going to give you all sorts of nervous system overload feelings of stress panic not having prepared. No, we don't want to do that. Like unless you have the space in your schedule and your chill with that. Don't leave it to the last minute to book your holiday to take your time off make it a habit to make it part of your routine and that means planning it. So if you have a war planner like me I have a planner up here on my wall for the whole year. And 1 of the things I'm going to be doing before the year is out because we're in obviously 2023 this is my 2024 planet's already on the wall I'm going to go through and I'm going to put all of my days off in before the year starts now of course you might not know exactly when you want to take holiday. If. It's maybe like a one one day here one day there but you can get those weeks planned in that's going to feel really good. So if you say right? I'm going to take six weeks off next year when are those weeks going to be book them in your diary and start making travel plans if you're traveling if you're having a staycation then make a plan of what you're going to be doing.

You know people say I book a holiday to have something to look forward to will book it and look forward to it. Let's just not like kind of pull it out of our ass at the last minute we need to plan it I love planning time off because it helps me understand where the gaps are in my schedule. It also helps me understand how I get there. So if I need to take two weeks off let's say in the summer I know that the 3 or four or five weeks prior to that I'm going to make sure that I have prepared for that time off. So it's not this last minute panic. So planning everything ahead of time is going to help you step away without feeling guilty The second thing is systems so many people don't have very good systems in their business because they don't really understand how to get things flowing like they don't necessarily realize that you can simplify systems and when I say systems I mean a process. And people so processes and people that help your business to run smoothly now you should as a peaceful Ceo be able to step away from your business without you having to be constantly on I don't want you taking your laptop on holiday babe. You don't need to do that having a system in place. Excuse me having a system in place which allows you to wet walk away for a week and know that everything is taken care of that needs to be done is literally the difference between feeling excited to go away and feeling guilty to go away.

You're feeling guilty because you don't feel prepared while a person or a process is going to help you feel more prepared. So for example, if you're like oh well, who's going to do my social media posting while it should not be you in any case, it should not be you. You should be delegating that out. If you can't delegate that out yet due to your income. That's fine but work towards the day when you delegate your social media out so you're not having to worry about posting that graphic on Instagram halfway through the week while you're away and also if there's client work to do and you have a team. You should be able to step away for a week without all the wheels falling off if that is the case if you step away for a week and the wheels fall off that is not that's that tells me that tells me that you're getting too involved in the work. Your team are doing the work. And they should be able to manage for a week without you because they're grown ups right? And if you're finding that you can't take a weve cough because you feel like everything's going to go to shit that suggests to me that you're holding your clients and your team too closely. You're too in control of everything. And you're actually worried about what might happen and that's not good so you should be able to walk away and things to carry on. Um, the third one is communication right? if your clients don't know you're going away then of course things are going to go to shit. So.

Get the planning together in the first place you know, get the holiday time figured out and then tell your clients. Well ahead of time say look I'm going to be taking a week off in April um. Just want to let you know? Um I'm not going to be available for any contact I'm going like basically I'm going out the country I'm not going to be on my emails blah blah blah whilst I'm away. Um, this is what's going to happen and make a plan so either give them a team member to contact. Talk about the work that's going to happen during that week which you're not necessarily going to be involved in but is still going to carry on give them the reassurance or if you're like no I don't have a team It's just me. You're going to make sure that 2 3 4 five weeks prior to your holiday that they have got everything they need and that week isn't going to disrupt them in any way so you will have done the work in advance or you will have postponed the work that maybe was scheduled to be done at that time. Till later and you've had that conversation with the client simple as that. So these were my 3 hot tips of stepping away from your business without feeling guilty as ever. Love I really appreciate you tuning in and listening to the show.
